Mission & Vision

At ChariTeam, education is more than just a classroom experience it is a lifeline for our children, a bridge to opportunity, and a reflection of the values that hold our community together. Founded in the heart of the fishing village of Bwejuu on the east coast of Zanzibar, our school was born from a simple but powerful dream: to ensure that every child in our village, no matter their background, has the chance to learn, grow, and succeed. In a place where the ocean provides both livelihood and lessons in patience, resilience, and cooperation, we believe education should reflect the same spirit deeply connected to community, culture, and care for one another.

We exist for the children of Bwejuu and for the island beyond. We know that when we support one child, we uplift an entire family. When we strengthen one village, we plant seeds of hope for the future of Zanzibar.

Our mission is to:

• Provide accessible, high-quality education to children from families who may not otherwise afford it
• Teach not just reading and writing, but also kindness, honesty, responsibility, and environmental awareness
• Build a strong sense of community pride and identity, while helping students prepare for a changing world
• Create opportunities for children to dream big and pursue lives of purpose, dignity, and service
• Instill a deep respect for our natural surroundings from the coral reefs to the coconut palms and the rich heritage of Zanzibar

At ChariTeam, we believe that a true education prepares a child not only for exams, but for life. It teaches them to listen, to lead, to give, and to believe in something bigger than themselves. Our students are tomorrow’s teachers, fishermen, midwives, business owners, and leaders and we are proud to walk alongside them as they begin their journey.
